"In a sub-tropical city where temperatures soar over the summer months, we felt it was imperative for the installation to happen."
It’s all happening over at The Zoo in Brisbane, with the popular live music venue today announcing that it finally has air condition (and will be celebrating with some big events in the coming months).
It’s been a long time coming for regular patrons, some of whom have been with the venue through 30 “sweltering summers”, and the new installation will be “sweet icy relief”.
"In a sub-tropical city where temperatures soar over the summer months, we felt it was imperative for the installation to happen,” co-owner Shane Chidgzey said.
“We see it as a necessity for the health and wellbeing of our staff, punters, and of course the artists that perform at the venue. Boo, Cat, Pixie and I are incredibly happy that we were able to finally make it happen during the first year of our partnership.”
To celebrate (and test out) the new air-con, they’ll be hosting an epic New Year’s Party, headlined by South Coast New South Wales garage rockers Pacific Avenue, Melbourne outfit LOSER, trash-pop duo Sophisticated Dingo and more alongside guest DJ sets from Being Jane Lane.
