Perth’s vibrant music community is uniting for a special cause: celebrating and supporting legendary drummer James Baker in his battle against liver cancer. A unique trailblazer in Australia’s punk and rock scenes, Baker’s impressive career spans iconic acts like The Victims, The Scientists, The Beasts of Bourbon, and Hoodoo Gurus, all while brushing shoulders with heavyweights like Sid Vicious and The Clash.

Two benefit shows in January 2025 will honor Baker’s legacy and raise funds for his treatment. The first event takes place this Friday, January 10, at Clancy’s Fish Pub, Fremantle, featuring performances by local acts The Kill Devil Hills, The Volcanics, Greenzo’s Weird Ol’ Blues, and The Shakeys. The second gig follows on Saturday, January 11 at Lyric’s Underground, showcasing Datura4, The Floors, Carla Geneve, The Secret Buttons, and Robber’s Dog.

To coincide with the events, Baker has collaborated with Perth music legend
