“He wasn’t bubbly and laughing. Maybe he’d come to the state where he’d achieved his dream, he found his holy grail, but found that his holy grail might have looked like an empty goblet."

In a world exclusive, Australian Story will be unpacking the narrative of legend AC/DC frontman Bon Scott

Scott famously was on the verge of becoming an international, undeniably huge rock'n'roll superstar, before he passed away at the age of 33.

The program has been granted access to Scott's friends and family for the first time ever, who have delivered exclusive insights into his personality, vulnerability and state of mind leading up to his untimely death in 1980 in London.

Interviews include the first interview with former bandmate and housemate Bruce Howe, who noticed a big change in Scott in late 1979.

He stated, “He wasn’t bubbly and laughing. Maybe he’d come to the state where he’d achieved his dream, he found his holy grail, but found that his holy grail might have looked like an empty goblet."

The program also features an exclusive interview with the driver of the car that almost killed Bon Scott in a motorbike incident in 1974, as well as interviews with Jimmy Barnes, John Brewster of The Angels and Johnny Young of Young Talent Time.

Aussie rock legend Barnes considers Scott one of the world's greatest ever rock and roll singers, stating, "I don’t think there’s a singer in the world that can hold their own against him."

The program airs tonight at 8pm on ABCTV, iview and YouTube.
