A few weeks after the (mostly) international LPs to be released for this year’s Record Store Day were announced, the Australian releases have been revealed.
Christmas for vinyl collectors, this year’s Record Store Day will take place on Saturday, 12 April. More than 200 independent record stores in Australia will host the day’s exclusive vinyl releases, special interactive events, and RSD activations.
For its 18th year, the local list of releases includes exclusive vinyl from Dannii Minogue (Neon Nights Remixed 12”), Bluey (Burger Dog / Bluey Theme Tune 7”), Ninajirachi (girl EDM 12”), The Saints (Paralytic Tonight, Dublin Tomorrow 12”), Pond (The Early Years: 2008 - 2010 2 x LP), The Grogans (Twangs n’ Cans / Cacteyed 12”), and more.
Today’s newly announced exclusive vinyl accompany fellow Aussies Royel Otis (Nashville Sessions / 10″ Bone) and Confidence Man (3AM (LA LA LA) / 12″ Magenta Coloured vinyl), who were announced on the international drop earlier this month. International releases coming this year include artists like Charli XCX, The Cure, Rage Against The Machine, A Tribe Called Quest, Sugababes, and stacks more.
In a statement, Pond’s Nicholas Allbrook outlined the thrill of going to record stores and immersing oneself in music.
“Have you ever watched the movie Empire Records? Have you gazed upon the cover of DJ Shadow’s album Endtroducing? Going to the record store is one of life’s greatest, most wholesome pleasures, and if it too gets gobbled up into our phones along with banking, dating and reading, then we are a very, very poxy species indeed,” Allbrook said.
