Gary Clark Jr ProfileAcclaimed American musician Gary Clark Jr has admitted that despite the current rush on his blues-rock revival, he has not ruled out a return to acting.
Speaking to theMusic.com.au whilst in Australia last month for a string of shows, Clark Jr – who started in blues-drama feature film Honneydripper alongside Danny Glover in 2007 – said that he longed for acting.
“Yeah. I kinda put it down for a little while, like I wanted to focus on music, but it's been a while since I've done some,” he said, “I kinda miss it.”
Clark's acting stakes might have become a bit more attractive in recent years as well, given the exposure his music career has generated in recent years. Most notably that was when he performed at the White House earlier this year for the Red, White And Blues event alongside BB King, Mick Jagger and Buddy Guy among others.
“The difference for me is, I enjoy helping someone else's vision coming alive, someone else's story, being a part of that as opposed to being wrapped in my own songs. And the thing I love about acting is that it's a major collaboration and you really have to be present and in the moment and convincing, I love that challenge.”
Clark's album Black And Blu is out today through Warner and he will retun to Australia for the Big Day out festival next year. The full filmed interview with theMusic.com.au will be posted soon.
