Bliss n Eso are preparing for a busy year, today announcing their eighth album, The Moon (The Light Side), and dropping a lively new single, Party On The Moon.
The hip-hop group have one of Australia’s most dedicated followings, culminating in three ARIA #1 albums, nine ARIA Award nominations, half a billion streams, and over 50,000 tickets sold in Australia alone for their national album tour behind their 2021 album, The Sun.
The Aussie hip-hop heavyweights dug deep for the forthcoming album, citing inspiration from the “golden era” of the '90s boom-bap sound.
“We grew up as kids listening to the classic rap crew Gang Starr and always loved DJ Premier's beats - one of hip-hop’s most legendary producers and iconic pioneers of the ‘golden era’ 90’s boom bap sound,” the group commented in a press release.
“For our new album The Moon (The Light Side), we felt it was important to give our fans an insight into the type of music we grew up listening to, and that helped shape us into the artists we are today.”
The Moon (The Light Side) will be released on Friday, 11 April, via Flight Deck/Mushroom Music. Here, you can pre-order/pre-save the album, including on exclusive Blue Moon and Blood Moon vinyl, alongside limited-edition merch.

On the new single Party On The Moon, Bliss n Eso reworked Gang Starr’s classic, Full Clip. They said of the surprise move: “We had the idea to flip up the iconic beat from Gang Starr’s ‘Full Clip’ taking its classic boom bap sound and updating it with modern day production to give it a contemporary fresh spin.
“It was a pretty crazy and ambitious idea given the song’s huge gravitas in hip-hop history, and we had no idea if DJ Premier would allow us to use the beat or if we’d even be able to get in contact with him. We decided instead of trying to ask for permission first - we would instead spend the time and energy to create the entire song, so we had a fully finished vision to present to Premier. We were shooting for the moon and had poured so much work and love into the song.”
