If 'Anthem Pt. 2' is one of the best blink-182 songs, will Pt. 3 live up to lofty expectations?

More blink-182 More blink-182

It's a Christmas miracle - blink-182 are working on the next story in the Anthem saga, with the band teasing Anthem Pt. 3 on social media.

Anthem was released on the American pop punk band's breakthrough album, 1999's Enema Of The State, and received a sequel in 2001 with Anthem Pt. 2 featuring on the album Take Off Your Pants And Jacket. A live rendition of Anthem Pt. 2 appeared as a bonus track on the Untitled record (2003).

In a video shared by Travis Barker, the renowned drummer smashes the drum kit while wearing a t-shirt that reads, "FUCK ME I'M TIRED". The video is captioned "Anthem Pt. 3", and the official blink-182 account commented with the sly eyeballs emoji.

Tom DeLonge announced that he rejoined blink-182 in October. The band then released a new song, Edging, which showcased precisely why fans had been clamouring for DeLonge to return to the group he departed in 2015.

The first song to feature the classic lineup of Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker since 2012, the jovial mid-tempo pop-punk track comes to life with Tom's trademark vocal tone delivering the first line "I ain’t that cool a little fucked in the head" over a swinging beat from Barker, his voice taking a leading role against a backdrop of subtle guitar and bass work, before taking off with an earworm of a chorus that features Tom and Mark's infamous vocal interplay.

As Hoppus and DeLonge trade vocal duties for the remainder of the track and Barker lays down some unexpectedly restrained yet technical beats, the trio's chemistry comes to the forefront.
