"We have built a reputation of working with incredible artists who are great storytellers and brilliant performers."
Aboriginal music collective Black Arm Band are celebrating ten years of celebrating their rich culture, songs and stories this year, at a special concert in Sydney.
Songs Of The Black Arm Band will make its Sydney premiere this year after debuting at Dark MOFO last year. You'll hear the songs from the collective's beginnings with Murandak as well as their more recent Dirtsong.
Led by soul singer and Black Arm Band's artistic director Emma Donovan, she says, "We have built a reputation of working with incredible artists who are great storytellers and brilliant performers. The shows we have produced with these artists over the years have been inspired by celebrating our culture but also expressing ideas of revolution and reconciliation. I am really proud of the mark we have made on the Australian music scene and on the lives of Indigenous people and artists.
Black Arm Band features Deline Briscoe (vocals), Yirrmal Marika (vocals), Mark Atkins (didgeridoo), Michael Meagher (musical director/bass), Andrea Keller (piano), Rory McDougall (drums) and Steve Magnusson (guitar).
