Sydney's Bird's Robe Records Announces Campaign For Doco To Celebrate 10th Anniversary

"So, we've decided to turn to you, the fans, to help us make this something special."

Sydney-based record label, Bird's Robe Records, has announced plans to create a documentary series to coincide with its tenth anniversary.

The label - which is home to beloved acts like sleepmakeswaves, We Lost The Sea, Closure in Moscow, Toehider and Meniscus - initially planned to celebrate the milestone by sharing stories of its flagship acts last year before the COVID pandemic halted plans.

Bird's Robe Records is chasing a target of $17,500 to make the series, with almost $7,000 already being raised.

"We are applying for various grants but - as with most projects related to Bird's Robe over the years - we're not confident we'll be fortunate enough to be awarded funding. We also don’t want to hold up the production of the documentary just for the slim chance of landing some Government coinage," a statement on the Kickstarter campaign reads.

"So, we've decided to turn to you, the fans, to help us make this something special.

"The amount we're seeking is approximately half the production budget. The other half will be funded by ourselves.

"These funds will go towards the filming and editing team, as well as the cost of gear, travel & venues (where required). They will also go towards the artists lending their time to help make the documentary, by paying a licence fee for the music used in the documentary, as well as a small snacks and drinks budget to keep them going through the hours of interviews required."
