Q) What happens when you mix wrestling, furniture, and The Smashing Pumpkins? A) A pretty damn bizarre TV commercial.
That’s right – Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has risen more than a few eyebrows following a cameo appearance in a new commercial for Chicago furniture retailers Walter E Smithe.
The ad features Corgan playing musical chairs with three businessmen in a wrestling ring. When Corgan gets the boot, he calls in some wrestling buddies and all kinds of chaos ensues. Just watch it and you’ll see what we mean.
For those of you struggling to join the dots with this one, it turns out the wrestlers shown in the commercial are actually members of Corgan’s own wrestling company, Resistance Pro. Wrestlers are good at breaking furniture, so combine the two and you’ve got a great way to promote both companies.
