Australian indie-folk trio Sons Of The East have found the coolest ever way to promote their US tour: call Ghostbusters and recruit Bill Murray to talk you up on Instagram.

Posting a reel to Instagram this morning, actor and musician Bill Murray holds two sustainable containers of food, looks into the camera and says, “Hello, I’m Bill Murray. Thank you for your attention. Now, if you would please direct it to the music of Sons Of The East. Thank you.”

Then, with a smile, the Instagram reel changes to Sons Of The East on numerous stages in packed out rooms, with clapping, delighted fans enjoying the group’s brand of folk music. You can check out the video below.

When asked how the video with Bill Murray came about, Sons Of The East manager Bryon Jones stated to The Music, “He’s a genuine fan. He came to a tiny show in North Carolina last year and said hi to the band, and they hung out. Then he turned up to the sold-out Boston show last week and asked for some guitar tips from Jack, so he got them in exchange for the video!”

Sons Of The East released their debut album, Palomar Parade, in September 2022. The band are currently touring the US. After their show in Chicago tonight, Sons Of The East are off to St. Paul, Denver, Vancouver, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego. The tour ends on 5 October.

Sons Of The East, the little band from Sydney's Northern Beaches, have amassed over 300 million streams, mainly without the help of Australian radio and industry. That was before they even released their debut album.
