As well as showcasing some of the country’s best artists, BIGSOUND is also throwing its support behind new music technology businesses, today unveiling its 2019 BIGTECH Prize winner.

This year, BIGTECH is hosting nine entrepreneurs playing in the music space, each of whom received mentoring and expertise from experts prior to BIGSOUND, before showcasing to the public and also pitching to judges for a chance to win a $5,000 cash prize, thanks to Warner Music Group.

Paperchain, a streaming analytics and payment platform, has been crowned the inaugural BIGTECH Prize winner.

“BIGTECH is a growing and important part of the BIGSOUND experience showcasing the best in new music technology,” QMusic CEO Angela Samut said.

“Music is all about innovation and we envision that BIGSOUND will continue to create greater connections, ideas and solutions.

"Technology has democratised our industry to make it more accessible to everyone and not just a few with a label, or publishing deal, but we need to continue to work together to explore how artists and our industry can maximise their revenue streams and where we can create a sustainable and thriving music economy. I congratulate Paperchain for taking out this year’s prize."
