Big Day Out organisers have been quoted saying that the festival is unlikely to return to the Gold Coast next year.

BDO organisers have been quoted saying that the festival is unlikely to return to the Gold Coast next year.

Adam Zammit reported to the Courier Mail that the festival was as "good as gone," following plans to renevate the venue in the leadup to the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
 
This does not bode well for the Gold Coast's tourism industry, but a number of nearby sites in Southern QLD and Northern NSW are being investigated.
