Beck's Song Reader is now available for pre-order.

More Beck More Beck

The US publishing house McSweeney's announced that the sheet music for Beck's upcoming work Song Reader is now available for pre-order.

Not due for release until December 7, Song Reader was revealed last month to be Beck's next musical project rather than an album release.

McSweeney's website is now advertising Song Reader as coming "complete with full-color, heyday-of-home-play-inspired art for each song and a lavishly produced hardcover carrying case."

The sheet music also boasts original art from Marcel Dzama (who created the imagery for Beck's Guero), Leanne Shapton, Josh Cochran and Jessica Hische. It will also include a preface by Beck.

A statement on the site about Song Reader states that it is "an experiment in what an album can be at the end of 2012—an alternative that enlists the listener in the tone of every track, and that's as visually absorbing as a dozen gatefold LPs put together. The songs here are as unfailingly exciting as you'd expect from their author, but if you want to hear Do We? We Do or Don't Act Like Your Heart Isn't Hard bringing them to life depends on you."

McSweeney's also promise that  "readers' (and select musicians') renditions of the songs will be featured on the McSweeney's website."

Pundits are expecting YouTube to explode with renditions of the new Beck songs within hours of the first sets of sheet music reaching the public.
