The Beach Boys Announce Limited Edition 'Sail On Sailor - 1972' Box Set

The Beach Boys are continuing to celebrate their 60th anniversary, with the release of the Sail On Sailor - 1972 limited edition box set. 

In an attempt to deep dive into their 1970's era and re-live the time spent recording albums Carl and The Passions “So Tough” and Holland in the late 60's/early 70's, this new suite of releases features six new albums that will transport die hard fans back in time. 

Sail On Sailor -1972 features 120 tracks, 80 of which are previously unreleased. Coming in all different packages and formats, the 'super deluxe' set is by far the most exclusive and includes remastered versions of the original albums (Carl and The Passions “So Tough” and Holland) as well as a previously unreleased concert from Carnegie Hall recorded in 1972 and unreleased bonus tracks, including the original Mount Vernon and Fairway 7inch EP from Holland, unavailable on vinyl since the 1970s. Fans will also get to enjoy a 38-page book with extensive liner notes, rare photos and a reproduction of the original Holland promotional book telling the story of the making of the album and four collectable lithos. 

If the deluxe set sounds a little too deluxe, then the band are releasing the re-mastered 2LP's versions of both Carl and The Passions “So Tough” and Holland, alongside the 7” EP - Mount Vernon and Fairway (A Fairytale), as a separate set for purchase.  

Introducing the packages, the band has released the live recording from Carnegie Hall of You Need A Mess Of Help To Stand Alone, of which the studio version is the first single from the Carl and The Passions "So Tough" album. The complete Carnegie Hall set, which has remained unreleased for 50 years, was recorded on then state-of-the-art 16-track tape, rare for the time and a great advantage given the number of instruments and vocalists in the band.
