It's been less than a year since beloved Brisbane indie quintet Ball Park Music released their acclaimed fourth studio full-length, Every Night The Same Dream, but the band are already solidly under way on bringing album #5 to life.

This shouldn't be entirely surprising to anyone who's followed the band for any significant length of time, given their track record of having put out six releases — two EPs, four LPs — in seven years, so it's not like they've ever led us to believe that they'd be content resting on their laurels.

Still, given Every Night The Same Dream's August 2016 release date, it's a pretty remarkable — and somewhat serendipitous — turnaround, with the group revealing on Facebook that they're currently "knee-deep in the making" of their next album.

"I don't think we saw it coming this quickly, but following all the touring for 'Every Night The Same Dream' we had a huge unexpected burst of writing," they wrote. "Songs were blooming all over the yard. It felt easy and natural and beautiful and we've just rolled with it."

The band are recording and producing themselves in a self-built studio in Brisbane and, while they're keeping mum on the specifics of what's poured out in the process to date, they say it's all "feeling spectacular so far".

Speaking of the spectacular, in case you missed it, Ball Park bassist Jen Boyce recently featured on a punk-rock cover of The Simpsons tune The Garbage Man, by WA musician (and The Music editor) Dan Cribb.

Otherwise, check out some photos from their sessions via their post below and keep your eyes peeled as the band's good work continues.
