Harcore punk pioneers Bad Brains have announced that they are working on new material for a new album which is to be released in 2011. All original members of the Washington DC group will write and record the band's ninth studio album, the first since 2007's "Build A Nation".
Bassist Darryl Jenifer has given fans a little hint of what they cant expect from the forthcoming release, stating "stand by for the realist we have ever written". The record should be released midway through 2011 via Megaforce Records.
Considered to be the "holy grail" of punk rock, Bad Brains are one of the definitive American punk groups who garner the same respect as Sex Pistols, Black Flag, The Ramones and The Clash. Produced by long time fan, Adam Yauch (MCA of the Beastie Boys), the band's last album, "Build A Nation" was a return to form for the band that helped define American punk and hardcore music. The album featured all the original members of the group: HR, Darryl Jenifer, Dr. Know and Earl Hudson.
Bad Brains were forced to cancel an Australian tour in June due to health complications.
