Things are heating up and with the country slowly emerging from COVID-related lockdowns and other restrictions, there’s a lot to be excited about. For those itching to get out this summer festival season, we’ve highlighted a few choice picks for your consideration. Here are some of the best events on offer across Western Australia in the coming months.

SUMMER CAMP

Less than two weeks since the announcement of one of Australia’s newest, most promising and most unique music festivals, Summer Camp, was announced, and it’s already looking like tickets are flying off the shelf. It’s little wonder why; the inaugural event, which is landing in Sydney, Darwin, Melbourne and Perth in 2022, is positioning itself as being the first festival with international headliners to grace the Southern Hemisphere and Australia’s first touring pride festival. With a plan to create a ‘summer camp’ for adults, a playground of music and art culture that “suspends reality and transcends the boundaries of imagination”, Summer Camp is setting a goal of becoming a place where everyone is welcome – no matter who you love, your pronouns or your music taste.

After the pandemic killed their original 2021 plans, touring waterfront festival For The Love is making a welcome return to the live circuit in February 2022, hitting the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth and a newly-expanded stop in Wollongong, all packed with an all-Australian line-up. Taking place at Mccallum Park, For The Love is gearing up for a sun-soaked day, packed with live sets from Dom Dolla, Crooked Colours, Mallrat, Allday and more.

SUMMERSALT FESTIVAL

As the radiant heat of summer begins to simmer down in March, one of the most beloved blues, roots and folk events, SummerSalt, will be gearing up to take place in some of the most picturesque and iconic locations around the country. On top of showcasing the best of home-grown and international bands, it will also bring cultural attractions, placing a very heavy emphasis on local community and sustainability in each area. Taking place this Boxing Day in Perth’s Belvoir Amphitheatre and celebrating its 20th anniversary is Breakfest, one of the city's dance music staples. To celebrate turning 20, the event will feature a huge day, packed with live music from Late Night Tuff Guy, Fox Stevenson, DJ HMC, Greg Packer and more, as well as a live-streamed DJ set from the one and only Plump DJs, direct from the UK. NANNUP MUSIC FESTIVAL

The much loved Nannup Music Festival presents an eclectic mix of acts over the first weekend of March each year, set to the stunning bush backdrop of Australia’s South West and the small-town atmosphere of Nannup. The community-spirited event, produced by a dedicated team of staff and volunteer committee from the non-profit Nannup Music Club Inc, has been running since 1989 and has consistently proven to be one of the most welcoming and rewarding weekends around and a much-anticipated event on WA’s music calendar.
