The Australian EDM community had some solid representation at this year’s Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) in Las Vegas over the weekend.

First up, Melbourne stalwart Dom Dolla continued his meteoric rise with a career-defining set at the Circuit Grounds stage. “I got some new music for you guys tonight,” he said, before playing a song he’s been teasing on socials recently.

Central Coast DJ Ninajirachi also made her EDC debut this year, playing on the Kinetic Field stage. She later posted a video to her Instagram expressing her disbelief at the milestone moment, saying, “just opened edc mainstage wtf. i am from kincumber.”

EDC, known as the Coachella of EDM, recently came under fire when photos of their exorbitant drink prices were posted on social media. Prices went as high as $94,000 USD ($140,406 AUD) for 12 litres of champagne, but even a six-pack of water would’ve set you back $90 ($134).

This year’s EDC Las Vegas ran over the extended weekend of May 17-19 with a lineup of more than 200 performers. Among the most exciting (in our humble opinions) included David Guetta, Infected Mushroom, Peggy Gou, Steve Aoki, Alison Wonderland (another Aussie icon), Boys Noize, Dillon Francis, Four Tet, Tiësto, Zedd, Alesso, Deadmau5, Excision, Sub Focus and Virtual Riot.

English DJ Fred again.. also played a surprise set on the Saturday (May 18), joining the ranks of previous special guests like John Summit and Snoop Dogg. The global megastar just completed a range of pop-up shows around Australia, selling over 100,000 tickets on just hours of notice.
