Aussie Muso Misses Out On Oscar Nomination For Best Song

Blue Mountains based singer-songwriter Thom Crawford has missed out on an Oscar nomination this morning after making the long-list with his track for the film No Good Reason.

Relatively unknown Crawford was part of the 75-strong initial list with his track Bones, which was co-written with American songwriter Joanne Perica and produced by Sacha Skarbek. It was one of three tracks from the film, which stars Johnny Depp documenting the life of artist Ralph Seadman, to make the long-list.

While Crawford's track didn't make the final cut, it's put his name in the same sentence as the likes of U2, Yeah Yeah Yeahs Karen O, Pharell Williams (who have Best Original Song nominations) and Arcade Fire's Will Butler and Owen Pallett (who are up for Best Original Score).

U2's Ordinary Love from the Nelson Mandela biopic A Long Walk To Freedom is the favourite in the Best Original Song category, having picked up a Golden Globe recently.
