Telluride Bluegrass fest goes down in Colorado this June
Veteran Australian roots outfit the John Butler Trio and buzz-worthy Melburnian bluegrass outfit Mustered Courage have both been announced among the esteeemed line-up destined for this year's Telluride Bluegrass festival in Colorado — one of the foremost, greatest-respected events of its ilk around the world.
The wider festival, which is scheduled for 18-21 June in the town of Telluride, will celebrate its 42nd anniversary this year, and is looking to do so in style by cementing a wide range of high-profile old-school and contemporary acts, including Ry Cooder, Sharon White & Ricky Skaggs, Janelle Monae, Kacey Musgraves, Trampled By Turtles, Yonder Mountain String Band, Greensky Bluegrass, Rhonda Vincent, and many more.
The announcement is an especially big deal for Mustered Courage, who have just finished work on their new studio full-length, though no release date has yet been forthcoming. The upwardly mobile Melburnians have an American tour — their third, in fact — in the pipeline from May through July, so their inclusion at Telluride is both fortuitous and the icing on their travelling cake, not to mention quite the notch to have added to their belt; the only other Australian acts who can claim they've appeared at the world's best bluegrass festival are (to the best of our knowledge) Kasey Chambers and The Greencards.
