Ashanti Accused Of Lying To Her Fans After Cancelling Appearance

Apparently low numbers caused the cancellation.

More Ashanti Ashanti

Just over a week away from her own Australian tour, US R&B singer Ashanti has been called out for lying to her fans after supposedly cancelling a live appearance due to low ticket sales.

The 34-year-old artist was scheduled to appear at Club Mixx in New York on Friday but cancelled at the last minute.

As Idolator reports, Ashanti took to her Instagram to address her fans: "Hey everyone unfortunately mixx lounge has been shut down by the promoter and the police..So I will not be there… Sorry for the inconvenience..."

However it didn't take long for those present at the venue to vent their anger online that there were no police onsite and soon after club management responded to fan complaints to explain that the low attendance figures were the reason Ashanti cancelled.

"We are open the promoter felt it was light and he cancelled her."

Ashanti deleted the Instagram post shortly after — check out the screen grabs below:

Ashanti will kick off her Aus tour alongside rapper Ja Rule on July 19 — check theGuide for more info.
