Sydney metal rockers, As Silence Breaks, are closer to unleashing their take on the melodic hardcore/metalcore genre upon the world with their highly anticipated debut album set for release on June 11 through New Justice Records.
With a sound sitting comfortably between both beauty and aggression, As Silence Breaks have made a sound both unique yet highly accessible. Through this universal appeal they are turning heads within the music scene and have established a solid fan base that’s growing larger by the day, this coupled with an even stronger reputation means nothing but big things on the horizon for the boys from Western Sydney.
“Our album is a combination of elements from the metalcore, thrash and hardcore genres,” describes Vocalist Sam Rilatt. “We just love writing music that's heavy, hard hitting and aggressive but is juxtaposed by layers of big melody.”
The self-titled album features ten tracks which were recorded at Electric Sun Studios with producer Dave Petrovic (Ash Phoenix, Cog, Bagster, Tyler’s Riot, The Vaine) behind the helm.
Not content with being pigeonholed into one specific genre, As Silence Breaks have done what they have always chosen to do – that’s to do it their way and carve their own path in the Australian heavy music scene.
“We've never been afraid to just follow our own direction,” says Rillat. “We don't want to just write the same songs over and over. Were constantly working at improving our sound and technical proficiency to the point where the genres and sub genres that people categorize us in, may not even apply on the next album we do.”
Beginning their journey five years ago, As Silence Breaks have undergone a number of changes to finally settle on a line-up of five like-minded musicians who have something to prove and a passion for heavy and aggressive yet melodic music.
As Silence Breaks has an impressive touring history having supported US melodic hardcore favourites, For The Fallen Dreams, Whitechapel and For Today whilst also shared the stage with the likes of Thursday, Underoath, Taking Back Sunday, The Used, Killswitch Engage, Funeral For A Friend, Story of The Year and many more for the Taste Of Chaos festival.
As Silence Breaks self-titled album is in stores June 11, 2010 through New Justice Records
