As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis has been sentenced to six years in jail for hiring a hitman to murder his wife.

According to the Daily Mail, Lambesis was appeared in court in San Diego, California on Friday (yesterday Australian time), found guilty of soliciting the murder of Meggan Lambesis in early 2013. He hired a contract killer who turned out to be an undercover policeman, not long after his wife filed for divorce in September 2012.

Tim Lembesis originally pleaded not guilty to the charges late last year, however he changed his plea three months ago in the close lead-up to the trial.

Meggan Lambesis is all said to have filed a $2 million lawsuit against her former husband.

As I Lay Dying, a Christian metal band who originated in California, have gone on an indefinite hiatus in the wake of the controversy.
