As I Lay Dying Frontman Pleads Guilty To Hiring Hitman To Kill Wife

Tim Lambesis faces nine years behind bars

More As I Lay Dying As I Lay Dying

Tim Lambesis, frontman of Christian metal band As I Lay Dying, has pleaded guilty to hiring a hitman to kill his estranged wife.

Lambesis had previously pleaded not guilty in the high-profile case, which was sparked in April last year when he was accused of paying a contract killer who turned out to be an undercover police offer.

According to NBC San Diego, Lambesis' guilty plea to one count of solicitation of murder could see him sentenced to nine years in jail as part of a plea agreement.

Prosecutors alleged that Lambesis approached his personal trainer to find a hitman. Once he made contact with the contract killer he supplied $1,000 in an envelope for expenses as well as pictures of, the address, and gate codes for Meggan Lambesis' house. He also specified dates when he would be with the couple's children, as to provide an alibi. Meggan had filled for divorce in September 2012.

Lambesis had previously blamed the behaviour on “roid rage” as a result of a gym addiction.

He is currently out on $3 million bail, with sentencing scheduled for 2 May.
