Artist's Institute Apologises To Jay Z

Marina Abramović back tracks

It was just yesterday that Serbian performance artist Marina Abramović blasted rapper Jay Z over a collaboration they did together in 2013.

Abramović claimed that she was "used" by the hip-hop mogul, when he filmed the video for his song, Picasso Baby after he was inspired by her 2010 live art piece, The Artist Is Present

However, art dealer and producer of the music video, Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn has defended Jay Z when speaking to artnet, saying that she had a receipt confirming that he had given a donation to the New York Institute, which read: "Thank you for your donation."

Subsequently, Abramović's institute released a statement shortly after to confirm the claims and that they had failed to inform the artist of the donation.

"Marina Abramović was not informed of Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter’s donation from two years ago" it read.

“We are sincerely sorry to both Marina Abramović and Shawn “Jay Z” Carter for this, and since then we have taken to [sic] appropriate actions to reconcile this matter.”

Jay Z is yet to publicly comment on the matter.
