In absolutely massive pop music news, Ariana Grande has revealed that she’s releasing a remix of her latest track, Yes, And?, with none other than her idol, Mariah Carey.
The collaboration lands on streaming services this Friday (16 February). Carey has long influenced Grande’s career, with the singer and actress telling in a 2012 Limelight interview: “I love Mariah Carey. She is literally my favourite human being on the planet. And, of course, Whitney [Houston] as well. As far as vocal influences go, Whitney and Mariah pretty much cover it.”
Grande’s impressive four-octave vocal range, including the rare whistle register, has been compared to Carey’s voice over the years, so this collaboration should be pretty special.
Announcing the collaboration over Instagram, Grande wrote beside a photo of herself with her inspiration, “I cannot believe the words I am typing…… Yes, And? Remix feat the one and only, queen of my heart and lifelong inspiration Mariah Carey is out this Friday!”
Calling the remix a “dream come true”, she continued, “There truly are no words that suffice. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this dream come true and for sprinkling your brilliance and magic on my little song Mariah Carey. It means more to me than I could ever possibly articulate, and I cannot wait for everyone to hear this! I love you eternally!”
