It's A Battle Between Taylor Swift, Brockhampton & Richard Clapton For #1 This Week

14 April 2021 | 2:15 pm | Jessica Dale

Who will take the #1 spot?

It's looking to be a big week on the ARIA Albums Chart with three much-loved acts all aiming for this week's #1 spot according to mid-week figures.

Taylor Swift's Fearless (Taylor's Version) - the re-recording of her second studio album - is currently gunning for a place in the Top 3 with both Richard Clapton's Music Is Love (1966-1970) and Brockhampton's Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine both looking at Top 5.

Clapton's Music Is Love (1966-1970) is a collection of cover tracks from the era, including songs like Summer In The City, Love The One You're With, For What It's Worth (Hey, What's That Sound), Riders On The Storm and more, and could secure Clapton his first-ever #1 album in his near 50 year long career.

Brockhampton's Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine is the first of two recently announced works. 2019's Ginger saw the US group land at #3 on the Australian charts, while 2016's Iridescence reached #6.

Swift may be hard to catch though. The US artist has been consistent when it comes to dominated the Australian charts with seven of her nine previously released albums landing in the top spot (her 2006 self-titled debut came in at #33, while the original release of Fearless landed at #2 in 2008). She claimed the #1 position twice in 2020 with Folklore in July and then again in December with Evermore.

Swift is also expected to make a solid impact on this week's Singles Chart with two songs expected to debut and another move back into the chart. Mr Perfectly Fine (Taylor's Version) is looking to debut within the Top 20 while Forever & Always (Taylor's Version) is looking at Top 40. Love Story (Taylor's Version) - the track that helped launch Swift globally on its original release - is likely to re-enter the chart in the Top 30.

Polo G's Rapstar is the top new contender for the #1 single this week, expected to debut in the Top 5, while Doja Cat's Kiss Me More feat. SZA is looking likely for Top 20. Rag'N'Bone Man & P!nk's Anywhere Away From Here is gunning for Top 30 on debut.
