Mega-popular US franchise Archie Comics has dominated print, film, TV and even music (who could forget the 1969 classic Sugar, Sugar?) for almost 80 years but now Archie and friends are going where they've never gone before — the Broadway stage.
According to Variety, an Archie musical is on the way, lead by Anchorman director and frequent Will Ferrell collaborator, Adam McKay.
The film maker also known for his work on Funny Or Die will write the show along with a songwriting team, though it is unknown at this stage if he will also direct.
McKay last directed on Broadway in the 2009 political comedy You're Welcome America which starred Ferrell in the lead role as George W Bush.
In a short and sweet statement, McKay described the forthcoming musical as "bright, colourful and slightly demented."
Little more is known about the show will be about involving the Riverdale gang and as of right now, casting details, production timelines and an opening night date are yet to be announced.
But until then, the only way we can think to celebrate this awesome news is by dancing. And dancing hard.
