Former LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy is working with Canadian indie rock ensemble Arcade Fire on the follow-up to their Grammy Award-winning 2010 album, The Suburbs.
While rumours of the collaboration have been floating around for a while now, Arcade Fire’s manager Scott Rodger has since confirmed the news during an interview with Music Week (via Pitchfork).
"They're in with James Murphy on three or so songs, plus Markus Dravs who is a long-time collaborator,” Rodger explains.
“They write too many songs - that's a good problem to have. There's around 35 songs with Arcade Fire, two albums'-worth for sure".
Rodger doesn’t specify exactly what Murphy’s involvement includes, or when the new album will be out.
Though it may come as a surprise to some, Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem have actually collaborated before; members of the Canadian ensemble joined James Murphy onstage for ‘North American Scum’ during LCD Soundsystem’s final live show at New York’s Madison Square Garden in April 2011.
