Calling Dr Jones

More Aqua More Aqua

Veteran Danish pop act Aqua were forced to pull the plug on last night's scheduled performance in Adelaide mere minutes before they were due to hit the stage as a result of illness, it has been confirmed.

According to posts from both the band and promoters KillRockStar Entertainment on Facebook, vocalist Lene Nystrøm, "despite her best efforts", was too sick to perform. Apologies and refund promises ensued.

"KRBD and Aqua regret to announce that tonight's Aqua performance at HQ Complex has been cancelled," the promoters posted. "Lene became too ill to take the stage despite her best efforts and was forced to cancel moments before the band's performance.

"Aqua and KRBD apologise for the obvious inconvenience caused. All tickets will be automatically refunded by Oztix."

Meanwhile, the Barbie Girl hitmakers offered a similarly apologetic message, specifying Nystrøm's affliction as a cold, expressing their tentative commitment to seeing out the remaining shows of the tour, intimating they would make an attempt return to the city in the future in order to make it up to the disappointed fans:

"Lene was unable to perform tonight due to a cold, which affected her voice. She tried her best to make tonight work until the very last minute, total rest was recommended by the doctor. Every effort is being taken to ensure that the rest of the tour proceeds as planned. We are really sorry to disappoint our Adelaide fans, but hope to be back in the future to party with you guys."

All going to plan, Aqua are due to perform at Melbourne's Palais Theatre tonight, wrapping up in Fremantle on Wednesday.
