"We couldn’t be more deeply moved and grateful.”
APRA AMCOS has revealed that the late Helen Reddy will be honoured at this year’s APRA Music Awards via the Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Services to Australian Music.
Reddy, who passed away last September, was scheduled to receive the award in 2020, but COVID-19 forced the awards ceremony to take place via a shortened virtual format and the honour was postponed so it could be bestowed in a room full of industry peers.
The APRA Music Awards will now celebrate her legacy on April 28 when the ceremony takes place at International Convention Centre Grand Ballroom.
“I am so honoured to be accepting The Ted Albert Award on behalf of my mother who devoted her life and career to equal rights for all people,” Reddy’s daughter Traci Donat said.
“And in honouring her you honour not just her music but also what she stood for. We couldn’t be more deeply moved and grateful.”
