Good luck picking a winner.

APRA AMCOS has today released the shortlist for the 2017 APRA Song Of The Year and after seeing the contenders, we do not envy the people who have to pick a winner.

This year's top 20 is led by Aussie heavyweight Flume and AB Original, who each have two songs in the shortlist, while there is also a number of newcomers, including Tash Sultana, Amy Shark, DD Dumbo and Julia Jacklin.

Previous Song Of The Year winners Sia, Daniel Johns, Missy Higgins and Julian Hamilton also feature in the 2017 shortlist.

For the first time, a voting academy will determine the nominees and winner from the top 20.

The academy is made up of previous nominees from the awards' 25-year history including Chris Cheney, Katie Noonan, Isabella Manfredi, Mike Noga, Troy Cassar-Daley, Sally Seltmann, Paul Mac and more.

The winner will be announced at the 2017 APRA Music Awards to be held on Monday, 3 April at Sydney's new International Convention Centre Ballroom.
