"What Dean has achieved with 'Be Alright' is not just a global hit but a song that’s really profound and has impacted people."
Dean Lewis has been honoured with an award from APRA AMCOS recognising his mega-hit Be Alright hitting one billion streams.
The track (which was released in June last year) has earned its spot on The 1,000,000,000 List via plays on streaming services including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Vevo, Amazon, Google Play and more, and makes Lewis just the second artist to be added.
Be Alright is the lead single from Lewis' debut album A Place We Knew which hit #1 on the ARIA Album Chart on release.
"Thank you to APRA AMCOS and everyone who has been so supportive right from the start," shared Lewis when receiving the award yesterday.
"We work in a globally competitive world, and there’s nothing more exciting and nothing gives us more pride than shouting from the rooftops how successful our Aussie songwriters are – both locally and internationally," said Chief Executive Dean Ormston.
