Briggs ProfileAustralian copyright collective APRA AMCOS are encouraging songwriters and artists to lodge their Live Performance Return (LPR) for this year.
The incentive, aimed at giving back to the artist for their dedication to the music industry, can provide the funds for musicians to continue touring and cover performance fees — more than $4 million dollars is distributed each year to members who apply for the LPR.
Dean Ormston, Head Of Member Services Group said of the program: "“Completing your LPR takes less time than lodging your BAS. But instead of having to send money out – an LPR is money coming in - a reward for the hard work of playing live."
“LPR payments are important to members at all stages of their career cycle. From new acts honing their performance skills or seasoned performers, the feedback is LPR payments provide a welcome cash bonus, and recognition,” Ormston said.
Local hip hop artist Briggs is one of many who apply for the LPR each year and he says that it is: "important to recognise your self-worth".
"As soon as I learned about LPRs I jumped online and lodged my performances from that year. As an artist you owe it to yourself to collect earnings for your work,” Briggs said.
Applications are now open for the LPR from their website and the closing date is July 31.
