The festival expects 50,000 every year

Surry Hills Festival has announced its return this year for its 14th annual event, revealing that the beloved festival will hit the inner city suburb on 24 September this year.

Along with this year's date, the folks behind the free event have opened applications for bands, artists, DJs, performers, local businesses and more to take part in the festival. All proceeds from the festival head straight to Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre's various community programs.

The festival traditionally marks the beginning of spring with treasure troves of creativity, music, fun and community tucked into every corner of Surry Hills, between Ward Park, Shannon Reserve, Crown Street and Hill Street.

You can apply to get involved here, with applications closing on 3 June.
