Get those cellos out of the closet and dust them off, Finnish metal veterans Apocalyptica have announced a headline tour.

Well-received at Soundwave 2015, the band returns to Australia on a four-show run - in support of their current album, 'Shadowmaker' - this September. Sorry, Adelaide.

Metallica covers, performing alongside renowned symphony orchestras and previous collaborations with members of Slipknot and Soulfly, Apocalyptica are entertaining, if nothing else.

"From bow-eviscerating speed to sprawling, spine-shivering waves of sound, Apocalyptica’s sonic palette is as rich as it is diverse," a tour statement reads.
