Donor gives up collection for education.

An anonymous collector has just donated 130 rare guitar models to the Conservatorium of the University of Tasmania.

The donor, who had been accumulating antique guitars over the course of several years, bestowed the collection to the educational institute with one clear intention — for the instruments to be played. Among the collection are a 1920s Harmony Parlour guitar, a circa 1885 Reliance 5-string banjo, and two out of the 11 Guild Finesses made worldwide.

The Conservatorium's Deputy Head Dr Glen Hodges is delighted to have accepted the generous donation, informing that the collection will be available for students to play, with some presented as awards to high achieving graduates.
