Amy Winehouse's family have reportedly signed a deal approving the making of a biopic about the singer's life. Winehouse tragically passed away in 2011, aged 27.

According to The Guardian, Winehouse's father Mitch has shared in a statement that “We now feel able to celebrate Amy’s extraordinary life and talent."

“And we know through the Amy Winehouse Foundation that the true story of her illness can help so many others who might be experiencing similar issues."

The film will be produced by Monumental Pictures’ Debra Hayward and Alison Owen (mother of Lily and Alfie Allen), who have previously worked on films like Elizabeth, Ned Kelly, the Bridget Jones series, The Other Boleyn Girl and more.

This will be the first feature film made about the singer, following the release of Amy in 2015 and Amy Winehouse - Back To Black which is slated for release this year. There is no information on the biopic release date as yet.
