"The categories were hotly contested in the judging this year."
Queensland indie pop favourite Amy Shark has taken out the Gold Coast Music Awards’ Artist of the Year for the second consecutive year, joined by fellow winners Hollow Coves, who claimed two awards.
Folk duo Hollow Coves were named Breakout Artist of the Year and their song Coastline scored Song of the Year, while Album of the Year went to Hussy Hicks (who claimed Artist of the Year in 2015) for On The Boundaries and Live Act of the Year was awarded to The Mason Rack Band.
Hosted by Dom Alessio, the sold-out beachside celebration took place earlier tonight on the Surfers Paradise with performances from Bobby Alu, Hussy Hicks and more, showcasing just how vibrant the local scene is.
"The categories were hotly contested in the judging this year," panel chair and Queensland Conservatorium deputy director Donna Weston said.
