Music Amphitheatre Part Of Flinders Street Station Revamp

An overhaul of the landmark could be on the cards

An amphitheatre, art gallery and marketplace have all been included in the winning, proposed redsign of Melbourne's Flinders Street Station.

As reported in The Age, it was revealed that Melbourne and Swiss architectural team HASSELL, Herzog & De Meuron won the state government's $1 million competition to redesign the area.

Of the artistic vision for the Melbourne landmark, principal architect for HASSELL Mark Loughnan said," "We wanted to turn Flinders Street Station into a destination to be enjoyed, rather than a place to hurry through."

The VIC government has yet to reveal whether it will go ahead with the proposed revamp.
