That's 40 names now announced...

The next five names from the AMID Power 50 cover a range of industry sectors as SPA and theMusic present the AMID Power 50 - a list of the top 50 most powerful people in the Australian music industry.

In the lead-up to the release of the 48th Australasian Music Industry Directory [AMID] Tuesday 3 July, we're releasing names on theMusic.com.au and through our newsletter Your Daily SPA every day. We're not telling you where in the top 50 they ranked, but in each list of five there is one person who has made the top ten of the annual list.

Brett Murrihy Artist Voice – CEO
Starting the Artist Voice booking agency may have been a gamble for CEO Brett Murrihy, but it's one that is paying off. Boasting clients such as The Temper Trap and Empire Of The Sun, Murrihy, along with co-founder Matt Gudinski, have expanded AV to Auckland, Hong Kong and Singapore. Part of the Mushroom umbrella, AV has also partnered up with Custom Made and Maker Agency since forming, creating one of the nation's most formidable rosters.

Karl Richter Level Two Music – Owner
With music synching becoming one of industry's top exposure channels and revenue streams, Karl Richter's Level Two are right at the front. The company has worked on TV shows like SLiDE and The Slap, as well as placing AC/DC's It's A Long Way To The Top for the AFL's official 2012 campaign. Whether it's been either of these things, Richter and Level Two are the go-to guys at the moment.

John Butler Artist
Above and beyond his extensive and highly successful career as a musician, John Butler has done more for the music industry than most fans would know. As the founder of privately-owned and not for profit The Seed Fund arts grant, he overseas thousands of dollars in grants to not only emerging artists but emerging industry professionals. A promoter of indigenous and West Australian artists, he's also thrown his personal support behind too many philanthropic causes to mention here. And whatever he does support usually gets the attention it deserves.

Colin Daniels Inertia – Managing Director
One of the top people of the big indie labels, Colin Daniels is the driving force behind leading independent label Inertia. Daniels has worked hard to give Inertia a bigger piece of the music industry pie, without losing the ethos and approach of being an indie. We can't think of a label in the country right now that wouldn't want him on their side.

David Vodicka Media Arts Lawyers – Principal
A long career doing right by the music and creative industries has won David Vodicka much respect from those industries. Media Arts Lawyers has represented the likes of Hilltop Hoods, Gotye, Missy Higgins, Big Day Out and Falls Festival and Vodicka (also Managing Director of the Rubber Group) is regular go-to for advice in the often underestimated legal side to the industry. You'll find him speaking at conferences (Song Summit, BIGSOUND, Fuse) and sitting on boards (ARIA, PPCA, AIR, MIFF) and needless to say, his opinion holds a lot of sway.
