alt- j Announce New 'An Awesome Wave' Anniversary Shows

Alt-j have announced a new tour celebrating the 10th anniversary of their debut album An Awesome Wave.

Starting at Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre on Friday 23 September and then heading on to play Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Sunday 25 September, the band have added two additional shows in between dates on their The Dream Tour, giving Australian fans an extra two nights of alt-j mania.

The band plan on playing the album in full, from start to finish, including bonus tracks. It is tipped to be a show full of fun nostalgia, commemorating the anniversary and reflecting on a career-defining body of work. Reviews of the UK anniversary shows are detailing that the tour will remind listeners exactly why An Awesome Wave was the album that put alt-j on the map in the first place, and bring back a bucket-load of formative memories for original alt-j lovers.

Released in 2012 with songs like 'Breezeblocks', 'Tessellate' and 'Fitzpleasure', An Awesome Wave was a hit from the start and soared up charts across the world, earning them the UK Mercury prize and a 2012 ARIA platinum certification. Dubbed as a genre-defying album, the complexity and ingenuity of their music won over the heart and ears of Australians and from there, they became a fan favourite, consistently touring and finding an eager audience wherever they went.
