He'll appear at Save Playbar tomorrow
Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth, Peter Garrett will put his weight behind Sydney's live music scene by attending the Save Playbar event this Friday 31 May.
The event - the brainchild of Sydney councillor and Labor member Linda Scott, is in support of the new live music venue, which is being threatened with closure.
Back in April, Playbar found themselves in a dispute with Greens Senator Lee Rhiannon, whose office is located in the same building as the the venue. Playbar claimed that Rhiannon had made repeated noise complaints against them, which in turn could have possible repercussions for their survival.
On Save Playbar, Scott said, “live music is so important to the inner-city. Sydney has a long history here of nurturing new talent and creative expression but after many years of neglect by Councils, our live music scene needs strong support."
