Alexisonfire have today announced a farewell world tour, with two of the nine dates taking place in Sydney.

With co-vocalist Dallas Green experiencing a boom in his solo career as City & Colour and guitarist Wade McNeil joining British band Gallows as vocalist, the Canadian post-hardcore legends called time on their ten-year career in 2011. This final tour, which will also visit England, Brazil and Canada, is a final chance for fans around the world to catch the band.

The band had posted a counter on their website leading up to today's announcement.

In the announcement the band said, "We couldn't be more excited to get on the road and travel and hit the stage one last time – most importantly we wanted to keep our promise to you guys. We're going to be playing till the venues try to kick us off the stage. We're talking 20 plus songs a night."

The will hit Sydney's Hordern Pavilion Tuesday 11 December, and Melbourne's Festival Hall Wednesday 12.

The band's love-affair with Australia is well known and in 2010 they released a cover of Midnight Oil's Dead Hearts, which appeared in their live set.

They're also veterans of the American festival touring circuit, a notable exclusion on their world tour.
