Aussie juggernaut Alex Lahey has taken home the second round of the Levi’s Music Prize and bagged herself a tidy $25,000

The grant is awarded to artists who have ramped up their career momentum thanks to their BIGSOUND showcase but need a leg-up to get onto that international stage.

“I am extremely honoured and grateful to have been awarded the Levi's Music Prize,” Lahey said.

“As an independent artist, having this support and encouragement is so motivating and will help get this project overseas for more touring and recording opportunities.”

Lahey blew punters away during her 2016 BIGSOUND showcase, going on to release her much-adored debut album I Love You Like A Brother and touring internationally.

The inaugural grant was awarded to Perth singer/songwriter Stella Donnelly on the closing day of BIGSOUND 2017.

Applications for round three of grants open now and closes 10 March; for more information, head over to the BIGSOUND website.
