Alex Lahey is doing it right...

More Alex Lahey More Alex Lahey

Sax player extraordinaire and all 'round legend Alex Lahey has already dropped one of the singles of the year and she's only gone and done it again with new track Am I Doing It Right?.

Taken from her forthcoming album, The Best of Luck Club, due out 17 May via Caroline Australia, Lahey pairs the release with the announcement of her upcoming Australian tour support act and the addition of an under-18s show in Melbourne on 23 June.

Speaking about the track, Lahey muses about life as a musician saying it's "considered a weird job without any explanation necessary, but one of the strangest parts about being a musician is that there is absolutely no set pathway you’re supposed to follow to get where you want to go".

“This song reflects on being thrust into a lifestyle and going with it while feeling like others are looking over your shoulder to make sure you’re doing all the right things by you and everyone else. It’s like fighting a losing battle while loving every minute of it.”

Sydney trio and Lahey's "favourite Australian band at the moment", Stand Atlantic will join her on tour which kicks off 6 June.

"They're on track for massive things and I'm very humbled they've jumped at the chance to get on the road with my band and I!," she shared.

The Music recently caught up with Lahey to play Two Truths & A Lie to tell us how she lived through a musician's worst nightmare. Check it out here.
