"I think I'd describe it as anxious dream pop."

More Segue More Segue

Perth DIY project Segue are back on the scene with a shiny debut LP, Primary Ties, and we here at theMusic.com.au have the exclusive premiere today.

If you like Beach House, Bjork, Eno and Deerhunter - this one's for you.

Written, recorded, and mixed by Jeremy Segal "during a period of nervous self-exploration", and produced with Daniel Zeljko, this 9-track adventure uses alternative-pop to explore themes of individual and collective anxiety.

Speaking to The Music, Segal said he was "really stoked to finally be able to share [their] debut album".

"We spent about a year working on it across four different houses, making the most of various bits of cool equipment that lived in each house. It's much less guitar heavy than our previous releases, with more synth layers and quirky little textures and samples.

"We were listening to a lot of Beach House, Frank Ocean, and Vampire Weekend throughout the process. I really wanted to make sure that there was a synergy between the songwriting and production, so we took our time arranging and re-arranging things, often tracking and re-tracking certain parts until they felt right. I think I'd describe it as anxious dream pop."
