ALBUM ANNOUNCEMENT: Deerhunter 'Monomania' + Tracklist

Atlanta, Georgia "ambient punks," DEERHUNTER have announced details of their 5th album, Monomania due out May 3rd.

Monomania is the five piece's follow up to their excellent 2010 outing Halcyon Digest, although frontman Bradford Cox, as Atlas Sound and guitarist Lockett Pundt, as Lotus Plaza have both put out acclaimed solo records in the time since. In January, long time bassist, Josh Fauver was replaced by Josh McKay.

The album was recorded at Brooklyn's Rare Book Room studio with producer Nicolas Vernhes and is described in the media release as "Mystery disc of NOCTURNAL GARAGE. rat tapes / NEW FORMAT is avant garde(?) but only in context not form (original intent of avant garde (1912-59) / before logic: FOG MACHINE / LEATHER / NEON." Make of that what you will.

Close friends of the band, Black Lips, who go by the Twitter name 'Black Lips+cox' and claim to "feat. guest tweets from Bradford Cox," recently tweeted: "New deerhunter record might b there best in my opinion."
