Adelaide's 'Pipe Guy' Unveils Sweet New Rig By Totally Destroying His Old One

Farewell, faithful steed

Remember Adelaide street musician Jake Clark, aka Pipe Guy? The legend who creates pitch-perfect EDM-style tunes using nothing but PVC piping, his sense of rhythm his and his trusty pluggers? Sure you do.

Well, as Geekologie notes, amidst all the madness of this month, we maaay have missed the news that old mate Pipe Guy passed a bit of a milestone a few weeks back, finally replacing his long-serving, long-suffering contraption, which he calls a "tubulum", or "thongophone", with a brand-new, state-of-the-art, well-shmick upgrade.

Clark would not be satisfied with merely replacing the original thongophone — which he says was "falling to pieces and going out of tune" — with the V2.0, however, instead giving it the most ceremonious of send-offs by taking it to its well-loved stomping ground in Adelaide's Rundle Mall, where it and the muso have spent countless hours making fucked-up techno-ish tunes together, lift it high above his head, and send it hurtling into the pavement (much to the apparent displeasure of at least once bystander).

He then pulls away a sheet to reveal the new-and-improved tubulum, and gives it a bit of a test drive — and the difference is instantly noticeable. It's a sonic revolution, and we're (belatedly) here for it.
